Brett Clegg resigns from News Corp Australia

News Corp Australia’s managing director of community publishing, Brett Clegg, has resigned to deal with a serious illness within his family.

Michael Miller, executive chairman of News Corp Australasia, said that Mr Clegg has been “a valued member of the executive team and his contribution will be greatly missed”.

“This has not been an easy decision for him and I respect the path he has chosen,” Mr Miller said.

“He has always operated with the utmost professionalism and passion for our business, I would like to thank him for everything he has done to drive our business success.”

Mr Clegg will remain in his position for a few weeks until a replacement is found.

Mr Clegg joined News Corp in 2013 as New South Wales regional director.

Before the move, Mr Clegg served as chief executive of Financial Review Group at Fairfax Media and as deputy managing director of The Australian Financial Review. From April to June 2013, Clegg held the role of executive officer at Fairfax.

He has worked across several mastheads including The Daily and Sunday Telegraph and NewsLocal in New South Wales. He also served on the board of HiPages, SportsTG and Society One and helped build digital brand NewsXtend.

Prior to joining News Corp Mr Clegg was director of business media at Fairfax Media.
