News Corp Australia executive Campbell Reid has been appointed the company’s director of corporate affairs and content innovation, effective from Wednesday.
In his new role, Mr Reid will “drive strategic thinking around the innovative use of content across channels” and lead News Corp Australia’s communications with its staff, government, business and the public.
Mr Reid’s former role, group editorial director, will not be filled, with editors now jointly reporting to News Corp Australia’s chief executive Peter Tonagh and executive chairman Michael Miller.
“It is a real privilege to take on this role,” Mr Reid said. “I look forward to working with our corporate affairs and content teams to meet the challenges of the most exciting time in our industry’s history.”
Mr Reid will report to both Mr Tonagh and Mr Miller. In a joint statement the executives said Mr Reid, who joined News in 1981, was highly regarded both inside and outside of the company.
“This role brings together the joined themes of telling the story of News Corp’s enduring contribution to Australia while also ensuring that contribution is secured for the future through creative use of our content and a reinforced position in the Australian community,” the statement said.
“(Mr Reid) is the perfect person to lead in these areas, which will be critical to our future success.
