Tasmanian masthead The Examiner in Launceston has a new editor, with Courtney Greisbach appointed to the role.

Ms Greisbach is moving across from the same role at The Advocate, a sister Fairfax Media title in Burnie. She joined the masthead as a journalist in 2009, where she rose through the ranks to become editor in 2015.

In the same year, Ms Greisbach was recognised in two categories of the PANPA awards, becoming a finalist for the prestigious Hegarty Scholarship and winning Team Player in the Executive Excellence category. She has been finalist in the Fairfax Women of Influence awards three times.

Mark Baker, Fairfax Tasmania group manager, praised the appointment.

“It is terrific news that the best person to become next editor of The Examiner has come from within Fairfax Tasmania,” Mr Baker said.

“Courtney has a strong vision for where she wants to grow The Examiner and a proven track record for leading a committed and passionate newsroom.

“She will bring a strong focus on delivering compelling content that is important to our readers and continuing to engage with our community.”

Ms Greisbach, 30, will start her new role June 19.
