This chart shows that, for publications where comparison data is available, the number of digital subscribers more than doubled in the first quarter of 2014, compared to the previous corresponding quarter. People are paying for digital content in increasing numbers.
This is despite the fact that it is still early days for paid subscriptions. Publishers are still developing their subscription models and have yet to throw their full weight behind them. Bearing this in mind, the growth figures are highly impressive.
