Fairfax Media has appointed Ross Blackam to the newly created role of national sales director for performance, data and programmatic, which will see him take on responsibility for revenue growth in direct and programmatic channels.
Mr Blackam’s position will be within the publisher’s digital ad development team, and he will report to the director of digital ad development, Tereza Alexandratos.
Ms Alexandratos said that Mr Blackam was the perfect fit for the new role and that he “shares our passion for creating and delivering innovative digital ad insights, products and solutions to advertisers”.
Mr Blackam comes to Fairfax from Ad.com, a division of AOL Platforms in London, where he was group head of UK sales. In this job Mr Blackam was responsible for growing revenue across the company’s major agencies, including Group M, Aegis and Vivaki.
Prior to his role at Ad.com, Mr Blackam worked in the TV and digital sales teams at Multi Channel Network (MCN) in Melbourne.
Fairfax also announced two new appointments to its Brand Solutions and Client Development team, with Jodie Smith named as brand solutions director of Life Media, and Michael O’Donnell as brand solutions director of entertainment, sport and Drive.
The publisher’s Brand Solutions and Client Development division, which was announced in December last year, aims to provide a specialist, dedicated team to take charge of its brand portfolio and key advertising categories.
Director of the division Michael Grenenger said he was excited at Ms Smith and Mr O’Donnell joining his team and that they would “bring further expertise to our advertisers’ businesses and focus on providing marketing solutions via our fantastic portfolio of iconic brands”.
