Campbell Mitchell will be responsible for growing new businesses outside the traditional remit of marketing in the media industry following his appointment as chief marketing officer of Fairfax Media New Zealand.
In his new position, Mr Mitchell will retain existing responsibilities from his previous role of two years as Fairfax New Zealand’s marketing director. These include customer retention, acquisition, new product marketing and events.
“Campbell’s new accountability is a reflection of both the growing emphasis we are placing on other parts of our business, and of his success in his role as marketing director to date,” said Fairfax managing director Simon Tong.
“An example of this is his work in our growing events business and the launch of Night Noodle Markets in Christchurch next month – a deal put together in record time.”
Mr Mitchell started his career as a sports journalist and spent six years in senior marketing, digital and sales roles at News Corp Australia before returning to Fairfax in late 2013.
