World reacts to Charlie Hebdo: gallery

A cold-blooded attack on French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, which killed eight journalists and cartoonists, four others and injured many at the offices in Paris, has rocked the world in the past week. Many (including The Newspaper Works CEO Mark Hollands) described the events as an assault on freedom of expression and a free press – essential elements of any democracy.

Media around the world responded with grief, unity and defiance in the face of the shocking attack, with front pages and cartoons addressing the event in their own way. Scroll through the gallery below to see outpourings of emotion and support from around the world.
