Leap in real estate online audience

Real estate online audiences have exploded in the past 12 months with a record-breaking month for both Domain and realestate.com.au in the latest Nielsen online ratings, while news sites jumped more than 600,000 in unique audience.

The results for March 2015 show a real estate category growth of 25 per cent and more than a million more people viewing real estate sites since March 2014.

Realestate.com.au experienced a 15 per cent rise since February to crack a unique audience of more than 4 million people for the first time – 4,003,000 for the period, up 656,000 on March 2014.

Domain also hit a record unique audience of 2.46 million for March, a 38 per cent jump since February and almost 1 million more than March last year. Privately owned site OnTheHouse.com.au also saw a jump of 58 per cent from 528,000 to 832,000.

Nielsen head of media Monique Perry said the boom reflected Australia’s real estate obsession and the leadership the sites demonstrated in delivering on customer experience.

Meanwhile in the Current Events and Global News sub-category, news.com.au held its number one ranking for the fourth consecutive month with a unique audience of 3.85 million, followed closely by smh.com.au. Ninemsn overtook the Daily Mail in the top five, The Daily Telegraph moved up one place to 9th ranking, and the BBC made a return to the top 10.
