Fairfax Media has named Matt Rowley as chief revenue officer for Australian Metro Publishing, effective immediately.
The decision follows the sudden resignation of Tom Armstrong, which was announced to staff yesterday through an internal email from Chris Janz, managing director of metro publishing.
In the email, Mr Janz said: “After three years leading our Metro Commercial team, Tom Armstrong has decided to leave the business. His last day in the office was yesterday. “I’d like to thank Tom for his leadership during a disruptive and transformative period in advertising.”
Mr Armstrong had been with the company for three years.
His replacement, Mr Rowley, will lead teams across agency and direct sales, key account management, brands & audiences, ad tech & operations and commercial innovation.
Mr Rowley joined Fairfax last October as chief development officer. His previous roles include head of content marketing at Cirrus Media Australia and managing director within the Publicis Groupe in London.
Fairfax also has appointed Andrew Mudgway as national sales director (Agency). Mr Mudgway will step up from his current role as Victorian agency sales director which he has held for two years. He has held various sales roles at OMD, Austereo and Zenith Optimedia.
Mr Mudgway will start his new role today.
