News Corp Australia chief technology officer Alisa Bowen has resigned to take on the role of senior vice president of digital media with The Walt Disney Company International, based in the US. The move has sparked a restructure within News’ digital product and technology operations.
Ms Bowen joined News Corp in 2013 as group director of digital and product development before being promoted to CTO in 2016. She had previously worked as chief product officer at Dow Jones and general manager of The Wall Street Journal Digital Network.
It is the second senior News Corp Australia executive to take up a job in the US within a month. The company’s chief financial officer, Susan Panuccio, was appointed as CFO of News Corp, the international group based in New York, at the end of February.
News Corp Australasia executive chairman Michael Miller said: “While I am saddened to see Alisa go, I understand and respect her decision to pursue an exciting new career opportunity in another industry. Our loss is Hollywood’s gain.”
Ms Bowen’s departure will make way for the repositioning of digital product and technology operations roles within the organisation. Several roles have been moved to sit within News Digital Networks, led by Nicole Sheffield.
The consumer, circulation and marketing technology team and the digital product ad platform team, led by Clive Parsons and Dominic Hatfield respectively, also will sit inside News DNA.
