leads for fourth straight month

Nielsen online news audience figures for February reveal that is again sitting just in front of The Sydney Morning Herald’s website as the most read news site in the country.

It is the fourth month in a row that has held the position, with an average of 64 page views per person – up on last year’s 60, and well ahead of the second-placed Herald’s 35 page views per person.

Although viewing less stories while on the site,’s unique audience was only marginally smaller than the leader’s, at 3.416 million to’s 3.578 million.

In third place was ABC News, with just under three million unique audience members.

The Herald Sun website edged just ahead of The Daily Telegraph website to take out the ninth spot.

The top 10 list in February comprised the same outlets as in January, and the only shift in the rankings was the swap between the Herald Sun and The Daily Telegraph.
