New Zealand Media and Entertainment has made changes to its commercial leadership team, with two new appointments.
Sandra King has become the new general manager of market solutions, and Laura Maxwell the new group revenue director.
NZME chief executive Jane Hastings said the changes were part of the company’s strategy to grow digital revenues.
“We are about selling audiences – leveraging the power of the many channels that we can connect with these audiences and delivering results for our clients,” she said.
“To drive this strategy into the next phase, some changes have been made to the commercial leadership team.”
Ms King will be responsible for growth across NZME’s different platforms, which is a vital part of the company’s commercial strategy, Ms Hastings says.
“This is a critical area of our business which is focused on how we commercialise our specialist content including business, sport, entertainment, food and lifestyle across all platforms,” she said.
Ms Maxwell, previously the group digital director for NZME, will look after the company’s revenue across the group via advertising products.
Ms Hastings believes the revenue received from digital and new business is a positive step towards strong growth across the business.
“While we will retain product and channel specialists, we are also capitalising on the opportunity for our sales teams to sell across all of our channels.”
With the merging of the company into one newsroom, it is important to ensure that NZME is able to reach its audiences, said Ms Hastings.
“As we merge three great businesses into one integrated media and entertainment business, we are ensuring that we have the people in place to commercialise the audience numbers that our news, sport and entertainment content is attracting,” she said.
