News Corp Australia has appointed Sue Panuccio as its chief financial officer, following the departure of Stephen Rue after 17 years in the position.
Ms Panuccio takes over the role after her most recent stint as chief financial officer at News Corp UK, and stints as the director of strategic program management, director of corporate planning and controller of planning and analysis.
News Corp Australia CEO Julian Clarke said Ms Panuccio excellent financial experience across the media sector.
“I am delighted that someone of Susan’s skills and expertise has agreed to join the company,” Mr Clarke said.
“She takes over the finance role at a very exciting time for News Corp Australia as we continue to invest in great journalism across print, online and tablet.”
Ms Panuccio said she was delighted to be returning to Australia for News.
“News Corp Australia has an extraordinary range of assets – with print and digital publications that reach more than 15 million Australians a week as well as a range of outstanding fully owned and partner companies such as Foxtel, Fox Sports and REA Group,” she said.
“I am really looking forward to leading the finance group of such an important Australian company.
“The fact I am coming home to do it makes it even better.”
Mr Rue said he was sad his time with News Corp Australia was coming to an end, but enjoyed spending almost two decades with the company.
“News Corp Australia is a great company to work for,” Mr Rue said.
“I will miss it and all the smart, dedicated and creative people it employs.
“However, I feel that after over 17 years with the company, and over 10 years as chief financial officer, it’s time to move onto other things.”
Ms Panuccio began her role yesterday.
