The Age named Asia’s top tablet app

The Age has won the top prize for tablet publishing at the Asian Digital Media Awards, hosted by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA).

The tablet app was launched in 2010 and averages 60 million page views a month.

The Age tablet editor Fergus Shiel said the accolade was a credit to the masthead’s editorial, design and tech teams.

He also thanked the masthead’s “devoted readers both for their continued support and their belief in our journalism”.

Singapore Press Holdings, publisher of The Strait Times, took out 11 prizes at the Awards including Best News Site and Gold and Silver in the Best Data Visualisation Project category.

Apple Daily Limited won Gold for Best Reader Engagement and Best Use of Online Video.
