A new role has been created at News Corp Australia for a head of commercial innovation, with former Mediacom’s Nic Hodges to take on the job.
Announcing the appointment, national sales director Sharb Farjami said the role would meet a critical need for “genuine innovation and an intimate understanding of our audience and customers’ needs”.
Mr Hodges previously has held a number of roles at major agencies, including as head of innovation and technology at Mediacom, digital creative director at Clemenger BBDO and technical director at M&C Saatchi.
He said he was happy to be joining a team that understood the media landscape and looked to the future.
“The landscape is changing daily, with new technology and new behaviours creating massive opportunities,” he said.
The role is the latest in a series of new or expanded roles in News Corp Australia’s sales department.
In April, Mr Farjami took on an expanded role as leader of the publisher’s digital commercial strategy and customer solutions teams, while general manager of retail and media Bettina Brown’s role was expanded to include trade marketing. A search is currently underway for the newly created role of advertising sales services director.
