News.com.au continues to dominate on the Nielsen Online Ratings, with the site retaining its top spot from smh.com.au in the figures for August, while use of e-commerce sites grows.
Overall, results in the current events and global news sub-category remained stable for the month.
However, The Guardian and Yahoo!7 news websites reached more users than the previous month.
The latest figures also revealed the popularity of e-commerce sites, with several sites experiencing the best month since August 2014.
Head of Media at Nielsen Monique Perry believes these figures demonstrate Australia’s growing love of online retail.
“The major retailers, traditionally bricks and mortar, have been proactively and in many cases significantly innovating their e-commerce options for consumers,” she said in a statement.
“Nielsen’s retail research shows that 60 per cent of online Australians shop online at least monthly, and over a quarter shop online at least weekly.”
