News Corp Australia’s chief marketing officer Tony Phillips will leave the publisher at the end of 2018 to launch his own brand consultancy.

Mr Phillips will return to Melbourne after spending two-and-a-half years at News’ headquarters in Sydney.

During this time, Mr Phillips headed the roll out of the “We’re for You” brand campaign, reinvigorating the publisher’s news brands around the country.

News Corp will continue to work with Mr Phillips once he leaves the company, announcing it will be a foundation client when the new consultancy is launched.

Confirming the news in a memo to staff this morning, executive chairman Michael Miller and chief operating officer, publishing Damian Eales thanked Mr Phillips for his ongoing commitment to News.

“Tony has demonstrated a deep passion for our brands, a deep affection for our business and limitless creativity for re-energising our brand positioning in the market,” Mr Miller and Mr Eales said in a joint statement.
