Simon Anderson has been appointed News Corp Australia executive general manager NSW, replacing Brett Clegg who has taken up the newly created role of managing director, community publishing.

Mr Anderson, a former chief operating officer of the Financial Review Group, joined News last year.

In his new role, Mr Clegg will have oversight of the company’s community titles in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, as well as the joint venture community business in Perth.  He also will be responsible for the continued rollout of the News’ digital marketing product, NewsXtend.

The appointments were announced last week by News Corp Australia chief operating officer Peter Tonagh.

“Brett’s appointment is clear recognition of the importance of the community titles to our business overall and will bring new focus and commitment to the development of their future direction,” Mr Tonagh said.

“Since joining News Corp, Simon has assisted with the development and rollout of Business Daily and other key strategic initiatives.”
Mr Anderson will report metro and regional publishing managing director Damian Eales.
