Vicki Aristidopoulos has been appointed to the new role of group director, real estate and home where she will coordinate News Corp Australia’s asset portfolio to deliver the best consumer, advertiser and business outcomes.

Director of national sales Sharb Farjami has also been promoted to the new role of chief commercial officer, network sales, and CEO of The Australian Nicholas Gray will become part of the company’s executive team.

The appointees will report to News Corp Australia chief executive Peter Tonagh and begin their new roles immediately, with the exception of Ms Aristidopoulos who will commence on February 22.

In her new role Ms Aristidopoulos will focus on developing and implementing News Corp Australia’s strategy for home and real estate. She will also coordinate the company’s asset portfolio to deliver the best consumer, advertiser and business outcomes.

Mr Tonagh said there was much more News could do to leverage its real estate-related assets, which include realestate.com.au, Vogue Living, InsideOut and Country Style.

“The creation of this new role will ensure that we have a single executive that co-ordinates this critical part of our business,” he said.

Mr Farjami’s new, expanded role will make him responsible for all aspects of News Corp Australia’s relationships with large, national advertising clients and see him work closely with all divisions of the business.

Mr Tonagh said Mr Farjami’s team would work closely with the company’s advertising-focused businesses to deliver the best outcomes for major clients.

“It is clear that the demands of our large scale, national advertising clients are evolving very differently to the needs of our smaller local advertisers and require a dedicated focus,” he said.

Mr Farjami was previously chief operating officer at Mindshare Australia before becoming News Corp Australia’s director of national sales in 2014.

Ms Aristidopoulos is a former Foxtel executive and was head of marketing for Fairfax Media’s Australian Publishing Media division until she left the company at the end of last year.
