Nielsen: Herald Sun back in the top 10

Melbourne masthead, Herald Sun, is back in the top 10 ranked news entities, according to Nielsen’s monthly Digital Ratings for March 2018.

The News Corp-owned title is in 10th place, with a unique audience of 2.2 million, after a brief absence in the ratings for February.

Nielsen Digital Ratings for March also revealed news.com.au has remained in first place with its highest unique audience this year, at 5.9 million.

For the first time since June 2017, nine.com.au, with a unique audience of 4.9 million, has overtaken ABC News Websites for second place.

Yahoo7 News Websites and MSN News experienced the most year-on-year growth. Yahoo7 News Websites grew 33 per cent since March 2017, jumping from 10th place to fifth place. While MSN News’ unique audience increased 24 per cent to 2.4 million, moving into the top 10 from 14th to eighth.

Nielsen has reassured that the unique audience data of Fairfax’s titles have not been affected since its tags were removed which are placed in data to enable tracking. This only impacts volumetric metrics, such as time per person and session.
