Peter Zavecz will leave his role as chief executive of SWM’s Pacific Magazines to join HWT as managing director, commercial, from October 3.
Mr Zavecz will work alongside Peter Blunden, Victorian managing director – editorial, to lead the business, and with the rest of the Victorian leadership team to grow audience and advertising.
The publishing and sales veteran has over 40 years’ industry experience and has previously held roles including advertising sales director of HWT and national advertising director at ACP Magazines, now part of Bauer Media Group.
Damian Eales, News Corp’s managing director of metro and regional publishing, described Mr Zavecz as one of Australia’s most experience publishing executives.
“He is well known by the business community of Victoria, he knows our business well, and he is ideally placed to lead our commercial operations at HWT,” Mr Eales said.
As Mr Zavecz joins HWT, current executive general manager, Peter Clark, will leave to take up a role at News Corp’s recently established digital business unit, News Digital Networks Australia.
Mr Clark will serve as executive general manager, metro and regional digital, at News DNA alongside former NewsLifeMedia head, Nicole Sheffield, who this week was appointed the unit’s managing director.
Ms Sheffield said in his new role Mr Clark “will be key to developing a new operating model for each of our metro and regional businesses to grow digital innovation, audience and advertiser revenue across a portfolio of digital assets”.
Since joining HWT in 1997, Mr Clark has held positions including chief digital officer, digital operations and business strategy manager and executive general manager.
“Among his many achievements, Peter has led our digital growth strategy at HWT which is now delivering strong consumer revenue growth,” Ms Sheffield said.
Mr Clark will also commence his new role from October 3.
Mr Eales said the two appointments “bring two exceptional and experienced executives to two of our most important business divisions”.
