Hugh Marks is one of Australia’s most successful media executives. With over 20 years of local and international experience in broadcasting, television and multi-media, he has an outstanding track record in identifying and developing creative talent, new business ideas, and emerging platforms and technologies.
His commercial acumen and strategic skills make him a market leader in structuring and packaging complex content and rights deals, as well as managing relationships across his sector. Hugh’s leadership is embedded in a culture of high performance, creativity, innovation and focused execution. His expertise in emerging platforms and technologies related to the creative industries includes developments in online, mobile and IPTV content plans and initiatives, both domestically and internationally.
Hugh’s involvement with Nine began in 1995 as legal counsel for two years. He then served as a director of Nine Films & Television and Nine Network Australia (1998-2002) before becoming CEO of both Southern Star Entertainment (2002-05) and the Southern Star Group (2005-09), often overseeing more than 500 hours of film and TV production per annum. Hugh has owned and run businesses in content production, talent management and content financing and has been CEO of Nine Entertainment Co since November 2015.
